Sertoma International

WHAT IS SERTOMA?

Sertoma is an acronym for SERvice TO MAnkind.  It is an international service organization of business, professional, and civic-minded persons dedicated to the betterment of the human community…locally, nationally, and abroad.  Sertoma was founded in Kansas City in 1912. There are about 800 Sertoma clubs in the U.S., Canada,  Mexico and Puerto Rico, with approximately 20,000 members.  Sertoma exists for the high and noble purpose of SERvice TO MAnkind by communication of thoughts, ideas and concepts to accelerate human progress in health, freedom, and democracy.  The  international focus of Sertoma is speech and hearing.  Local clubs are encouraged to participate in that focus but are active in many other sponsorships and fundraising  endeavors  as well.

As part of Sertoma International, HOLA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.   HOLA is one of six Sertoma clubs in Springfield, MO.  We are the only club locally with an international focus.  Our members, however, are also very active in the events and fundraisers of other clubs in our city.

Sertoma is divided into  Districts and Regions across the nation.

HOLA is in the Southwest Missouri/Arkansas District.  Our District Governor is Christy Townsend.

HOLA is part of the Heart of  America Region.  Our Regional Director is              John Cassida
